About

Hi, my name is Raoul Felix.
I’m a 22 year old code junkie, and you should follow me on Twitter here.
About Me
Other than being a programmer and geek, I’m also a wannabe blogger, (was) a kung fu instructor, a krav maga student, and a software engineer. I have a BSc in Computer and IT Engineering from one of the best engineering universities in Portugal and Europe: Instituto Superior Técnico. Basically, I’m just a keyboard wizard capable of invoking methods, creating objects, raising exceptions, and telekinetically transforming ideas into programs in a number of known magics such as Java, PHP, C/C++, and others. Although, as of late, I’ve been spending a lot of my time dabbling with a magic that comes from a special gem called Ruby.
I’ve just finished a one year internship at NWC Network Concept where I worked as lead developer for the online registration system I @m in! and helped around in other projects.
Currently, I’m in my second and final year of my Master’s in Computer and IT Engineering where my major is Distributed Systems and minor is Software Engineering.
I’m also a Junior Researcher in the Distributed Systems Group at INESC-ID where I’ll be working on my master’s dissertation which is about scalable and efficient discovery of resources, applications, and services in P2P grids. I’m happy to have Professor Luís Veiga as my adviser.
Take a look at my CV for a more detailed list of my accomplishments (Last updated on the 6th of November, 2009).
About My Blog
This is my attempt at a weblog.
There are two reasons why I wanted to start a blog:
- To improve my writing
- To learn by blogging
As a young software developer, I still have a long way to go. In this blog I will annotate that journey and whatever is on my mind at the present time. So think of this place as a journal of my quest to become a better programmer and everything else in between.
